Last night, I had the privilege of judging the Women’s Entrepreneurship Prize of the New Venture Challenge (NVC). For 10 years, the NVC has been CU Boulder’s entrepreneurial “flight simulator,” giving aspiring entrepreneurs the chance to build a startup through outstanding support and mentorship.
The Women’s Entrepreneurship Prize seeks to provide much-needed mentorship and prize money to young female entrepreneurs. To be eligible for this track, each team must have at least one female founder. Last night, the other judges and I awarded $12,000 in total prize money to two very impressive teams.
It was a special experience for me since my team won the grand prize for the very first NVC years ago and I was the program manager for the second year. It’s very cool to see how the competition has grown in both the quality of the pitches and the amount of prize money awarded.

About the New Venture Challenge:
The New Venture Challenge (NVC) connects the CU Boulder campus with the Boulder community to develop and fund entrepreneurial ideas. Participants attend year-round events, network, and collaborate with mentors to refine their ideas and form teams before pitching for funding (up to $200,000!) at the NVC Championships.
